Learn to Paint this Catkin

The catkins are again dancing in the hedgerows moved by the wind and rain.

have a go at painting this simple study of one branch.



All you need is a 2b pencil, AParker Vector pen containing a Quink black cartridge, Bockingford rough paper and a pack of Crayola wax crayons in colour apricot, brown and yellow and a number 12 round watercolour brush.


Draw your image


Go over your lines with the Parker Vector pen.


Apply your crayons as seen here



Use your paint brush with clear water apply a layer of water around your image then gently tease the ink to run from the lines and into your moat of water.
